WHERE I COME FROM

David Muir has been a lifelong resident of Salt Lake County. He was born and raised in East Millcreek and attended Skyline High School where he played multiple sports and was senior class president. He graduated from the University of Utah where he met his wife Cheri. Together they have raised their family of 5 children in Cottonwood Heights and sent their kids to Brighton, Skyline, and West High Schools. He loves traveling with his family and cheering for his favorite sports teams.

PUBLIC AND COMMUNITY SERVICE

Community and public service has always been a major part of David's life. He served among the people of Sweden for two years as a church missionary. He refereed for Salt Lake County recreational basketball for many years. One of his favorite experiences was volunteering for the 2002 Winter OIympics while working full time. He has also served as president of Utah Institute of Internal Auditors & the Utah Government Finance Officers Association.

David has been very active in community service trying to make a difference and making the community a better place. He also helped with citizen's initiatives for incorporation of Cottonwood Heights, Millcreek, and Brighton.

UNAFRAID OF A CHALLENGE

One of David's best attributes is his willingness to dig in and resolve problems that many may not be willing to pursue. He puts in the time to find the right answer, not just the quickest one, at work or when remodeling his house or repairing cars. You can count on David to find the problem, diagnose it, and fix it correctly.

WHY I'M RUNNING

A Focus on Serving

the Community

I have a passion for public service and a desire to work with all people to develop a community where we can all feel safe, be productive, and enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. One of my best attributes is a willingness to dig in and resolve problems that many may not want to pursue. I put in the time and effort to find the correct solution.

I have the right combination of public and professional experience to serve successfully as the Salt Lake County Auditor. I have been active in public service at the municipal, county, and state levels. I provided audited and verified data to helped with citizen's initiatives for incorporation of Cottonwood Heights, Millcreek, and Brighton.

For the last 17 years, I have worked for the City of Cottonwood Heights.  As the City Finance Director, I established all things financial, including property tax analysis and collections. I currently serve as the appointed City Treasurer/Financial Reporting Manager.

As county auditor, I would maintain independence and serve the citizen much like an ombudsman, working to make things right and proper. My goal would be to maintain fairness and equal treatment for all and assure the public that our resources are well spent.

I would appreciate your support and your vote.
